Drew Andrews

Dr. W. Drew Andrews is a passionate advocate for expanding postsecondary

opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities.


Dr. Andrews serves as the Director of the Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities at the University of Central Florida (UCF). In this role, he has spearheaded the growth of Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Programs from to thirty- three programs located statewide, significantly increasing access to technical colleges, state colleges, and universities for students with intellectual disabilities throughout Florida.


Dr. Andrews: expertise is grounded in a strong academic background. He holds an undergraduate degree in Special Education and master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of North Florida, followed by a specialist and Ed.D. in Education from the University of Florida (UF). While at UF, he directed a statewide technical assistance center focusing on secondary transition for students with disabilities.


His exceptional work has been recognized by numerous organizations. In 2009, he received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Governor's Alliance for the Employment of Citizens with Disabilities and The ABLE Trust and was named Transition Champion by the Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Career Development and Transition, Florida Federation. In 2020, his achievements were further acknowledged with the Donn Brolin Award for State/Province Leadership and Service from the Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Career Development and Transition.
